About me
Lieuwe Jongsma
Historian, craftsman, too many things to do in too little time.
I am Lieuwe Jongsma. I live in the Northeastern corner of the Netherlands and spend much of my time exploring traditional crafts, regional history, and digital innovation.
In my professional life, I lead the Information and Advisory services department at the Groninger Archieven. My work is divided between two main areas. On one hand, I guide the organization through digital innovation and the management of collection data. On the other hand, my team performs the core regulatory responsibilities of the archives, such as providing advice and oversight to government institutions on how they manage their information.
Outside of my work at the archives, I am a maker. I teach courses in traditional crafts like spoon carving, leatherworking, and Japanese lacquerwork. I am interested in the philosophy of craft and the history of our landscape. My other interests are broad, ranging from permaculture and trees to graphic design and playing music. Whether I am working with digital systems or carving wood, I am driven by a desire to learn new things and share that knowledge with others.
