What this policy covers

It explains what personal data this site collects. It details why the site collects it, how long the data is kept, and who it is shared with. It also outlines the rights you have under the GDPR (in the Netherlands: the AVG).

The data collected, and why

1. “Hear about new classes” sign-up (Teaching page)

  • Collected: your email address, and the crafts you tick (spoon carving, Japanese lacquering, sandalmaking, general).
  • Purpose: to email you when new class dates go up.
  • Legal basis: your consent. You can opt out any time by sending an email to contact@lieuwejongsma.nl.

2. Class booking requests (Book a spot)

  • Collected: your name and email (required); optionally your phone number, the number of spots, any dietary requirements for lunch, and a free-text note. The request is linked to the class.
  • Purpose: to handle your booking request. Spots are confirmed by hand. I contact you personally to arrange it.
  • Legal basis: taking steps at your request before we make an arrangement, and my legitimate interest in the operation of the classes.
  • Note: dietary information is only used to cater the class. It is kept to the minimum needed.

3. Contact form (if you use it)

  • Collected: your name, email, and message. Purpose: to answer you. Basis: legitimate interest.

4. Anti-spam — Cloudflare Turnstile

  • The sign-up and booking forms use Cloudflare Turnstile. This service checks that the submission is from a person and not a bot. Turnstile is privacy-focused and does not use tracking cookies. Cloudflare processes limited technical data (such as your IP address) to perform this check.
  • Cloudflare describes the way they handle this data in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum:
    https://www.cloudflare.com/application-services/terms/turnstile-privacy-addendum/

5. Analytics

  • This site uses a self-hosted analytics tool called Open-tracker to understand visits. This tool anonymises collected data. It runs locally and operates entirely without cookies.

6. Embedded content from other websites

  • Articles on this site sometimes include embedded content (like videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor visited the other website.
  • These external websites might collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party trackers, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.

7. Technical / server logs

  • The hosting provider keeps standard server logs (like IP address and request time) for security and reliability.

Cookies

This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile and Open-tracker operate entirely without cookies. Because the site sets no non-essential cookies, a cookie-consent banner is not required.

Who your data is shared with

Your data is not sold. It is processed only by the services needed to run this site:

  • Cloudflare (Turnstile anti-spam) — see the Turnstile Privacy Addendum above.
  • Mijndomein.nl (website hosting and server logs).
  • Mijndomein.nl (to deliver notification and confirmation emails).

How long it is kept

  • Sign-up details: until you ask to be removed, or until the list is no longer maintained.
  • Booking requests: kept for 12 months after the class, then deleted.
  • Contact messages: kept for 12 months.
You can ask for earlier deletion at any time (see below).

Your rights

Under the GDPR/AVG you can ask to: access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent, and receive a copy (portability). To exercise any of these, email contact@lieuwejongsma.nl — I respond within 30 days.

This site supports automated data export and erasure through WordPress’s built-in privacy tools. This means I can fulfil access and deletion requests for the email address you used.

You also have the right to complain to the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
